I became a WI member in 2005 initially to meet local people and make new friends when we moved from the South Coast in Hampshire to a small Cheshire village, whereupon I became President of my local WI.
I knew when we then moved to our Shropshire Smallholding (2017), where we keep a small flock of Shropshire Sheep which we enjoy showing at various Country Shows, that I would be looking to join another local WI.
I joined West Felton WI and volunteered to join the committee, becoming Joint President for the first year, followed by a 3-year term of office as President during the Covid 19 pandemic. I was also the Oswestry North Group Convener, again extending my term due to the pandemic.
Having trained as a WI Adviser in 2022. I am honoured to have been able to form the first two Shropshire virtual WIs, Darwin Daisies WI (which I have also joined as a member) and Virtual Reality WI, I really look forward to seeing them both grow and develop.
I very much enjoy being involved at local and Federation levels of the WI.
Having a military childhood then later becoming a military wife, has enabled me to easily adapt and change to all that life’s rich tapestry has to offer. I have worked in both the Public and Private sectors in many different places, at home and abroad.
